Learning has never been so easy!

So, as you can see at the bottom, I found a few sources that indicated the copying of the wizard folder to the Windows 10 machine but for me, it still didn't work. This includes information on how to resolve a transfer failure due to temporary profiles.
4 Steps total
Step 1: Copy the MIGWIZ folder from C:WindowsSystem32
Copy the entire MIGWIZ folder from the old Windows 7 machine to the desktop of the new Windows 10 machine.
Step 2: Ensure that your old computer does not have any temporary profiles
A temporary profile will cause your transfer to fail, telling you to reboot the machine. To fix this, go to the registry and ensure you have no duplicate profiles

We have issues sometimes after Windows updates where some machines will end up logging into a temporary profile or their profile is locked. By default, I just rename the duplicate to '.bad' and restore the real profile. In this instance, having the profile with the .bad will fail the transfer.
Step 3: Run through the Easy Windows Transfer on the old machine
Run through the wizard on the old machine until you get to the key screen. Samsung wobble washing machine user manual.
Step 4: Open the MIGWIZ folder and run MIGSETUP.EXE
In the MIGWIZ folder, run the MigSetup.exe file to start the wizard on the new machine. Go through the wizard till you get to the screen to enter the code. Type in the code from the old machine. From this point, the wizard should continue on normally.

- SonoraDeborahSML Nov 8, 2017 at 09:31pmI was excited to try this but, in my case there was not a migsetup.exe file in the migwiz folder of the new PC running Windows 10.
- Thai Pepperbethanyanderson Nov 8, 2017 at 09:37pmNot sure what happened to step 1 on this but I've fixed it, the folder is on the old W7 machine that you copy over to the W10 machine.
- Pimientols822 May 30, 2018 at 06:26pmOk, this works for 1 profile, can you use the Transfer tool to copy several profiles that are resident on the Windows 7 computer?
- Thai Pepperbethanyanderson May 30, 2018 at 06:57pmEasy Windows Transfer does allow you to choose any or all of the profiles on the machine.
- Anaheimginamelford Jul 24, 2018 at 10:04amI would definitely use USMTGUI from Ehlertech for this as USMTGUI uses the reference User migration tool, USMT, from Microsoft. You can also just run USMT by hand.MigWiz does not support Windows 10 and a lot of stuff will not migrate correctly.
- Thai Peppersalsamanp May 2, 2019 at 06:31pmHello Bethany, I found this procedure elsewhere a few days ago. it worked well to transfer a profile from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
I had originally used the Profile Transfer wizard from ForensIt and had issues with the Windows 10 Start Menu not working. But the MigWiz approach worked out of the box.
Thanks for posting. - Pimientoqct825 Jul 1, 2019 at 07:55amAre there any additional considerations I should take into account when using this procedure to migrate roaming domain user profiles from windows 7 to windows 10?
- Thai Pepperbethanyanderson Jul 1, 2019 at 02:54pmChrome and Firefox bookmarks and saved information does not transfer over through the Microsoft wizard, never has and don't expect ever will. You will have to do those separate. Also, the desktop picture does not appear to transfer over like it does from a Windows 7 to Windows 7 profile migration.
